MEET THE FOUNDER OF GATEWAYS EDUCATION
Carly Mason, founder of Gateways Education and Wellbeing, brings an impressive background in education to the company. With over 12 years of experience teaching in mainstream schools, as well as working within alternative provision, Carly has developed a deep understanding of the diverse needs of students.
Carly’s passion for students’ mental health and well-being has been a constant driving force throughout her career. She strongly believes in ensuring that the educational system meets the individual needs of students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). In 2020, she successfully completed her SENDCo qualification, earning an “outstanding” grade, further enhancing her expertise in supporting students with diverse needs. She also has a Masters in Education which specifically focuses on strategies to ‘close the gap’ in education which further enhances her skills and expertise.
Carly’s journey in education includes taking on various leadership roles within schools and even serving as a GCSE examiner. It was during her second maternity leave that Carly recognized the need for a different approach to education and support. This was especially true for the ‘missing middle’ whose needs are too complex for mainstream schools but would be over-provided for in special schools. Inspired by her own experiences and observations, Gateways Education and Wellbeing was born as a solution to address the evolving needs of students and their families.
Carly’s dedication, combined with her wealth of experience and commitment to fostering mental well-being and inclusive education, drives the ethos of Gateways Education and Wellbeing. Under Carly’s leadership, the company has become a beacon of support and empowerment for students of all abilities, ensuring their educational journey is nurtured in a caring and inclusive environment.
I cannot recommend these guys enough. I never though my daughter would enjoy doing maths outside of school time but she does. Suzanna is such a kind, supportive and nurturing tutor that she creates a great environment to give things a go and not worry about getting things wrong
